• Medical assessment. The detox process starts with a full medical assessment. This involves tests like lab work and an EKG. It is used to determine your overall physical condition and the risk of serious withdrawal syndromes at the start of treatment.
• Vital sign monitoring. Your vital signs will be monitored regularly for the entirety of our Tennessee drug and alcohol detox program. It’s important that you receive vital sign monitoring until you are physically stable.
• Treatment for withdrawal symptoms. Medications and other treatments (e.g., hydration and electrolyte support) reduce the severity of withdrawal symptoms, keep you safe, and reduce discomfort. 
• Emotional support. We don’t just address physical symptoms. Withdrawal can be difficult emotionally due to symptoms like drug cravings. Our team is here to provide emotional support during what can be a challenging time.

Whether you participate in a residential program or an outpatient program, these are designed to help you address the underlying causes of addiction, learn relapse prevention and coping strategies, and set yourself up for success after detox. We recommend a step-down approach if possible. This involves participating in a higher level of care (e.g., residential) followed by a lower level of care (e.g., partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient treatment).
