Our Treatment Program
Understanding the Role of IOP in the Recovery Process
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a crucial phase in the continuum of care for individuals recovering from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Positioned between Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and traditional outpatient therapy, IOP provides intensive support while allowing clients to live at home, work, attend school, or manage family responsibilities.
Reinforcing Skills Learned in Higher Levels of Care
After completing detox or residential or PHP treatment, individuals benefit from ongoing therapeutic support to maintain the progress they’ve made.
Bridging the Gap Between Treatment & Independent Living
IOP serves as a stepping stone where clients continue to build coping strategies, establish healthy routines, and address triggers while testing their new skills in real-life settings.
Preventing Relapse & Engaging in Aftercare Programs
Addiction is a chronic condition with a risk of relapse. IOP provides the ongoing care and accountability needed to reduce relapse risk, manage stressors, and promote long-term success.
Providing Flexibility & Customized Treatment Options
For those who do not need PHP but still require substantial support, IOP offers a balanced solution. Our IOP is built on the belief that recovery is about creating a fulfilling, purposeful life.

Individualized Care For Your Unique Needs
What to Expect from Xplore Recovery’s IOP
Every person’s recovery journey is unique, but at Xplore Recovery, we strive to provide a consistent, supportive environment where each client receives individualized care within a structured framework. Here’s what to expect from our Intensive Outpatient Program:
Structured Group Therapy Sessions
Clients in IOP typically attend group therapy sessions several times per week, with each session lasting several hours. Group therapy is the cornerstone of IOP and focuses on:
- Relapse Prevention: Learning to recognize triggers, manage cravings, and develop healthy coping strategies.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Identifying and changing negative thought patterns that contribute to substance use.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Building emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
- Life Skills and Goal Setting: Enhancing everyday functioning and creating actionable steps for future success.
- Psychoeducation: Understanding the science of addiction, the impact of substances on mental health, and the recovery process.
Group therapy also provides peer support—a vital component of recovery—where individuals learn from one another’s experiences and offer mutual encouragement.
Individual Therapy
Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Adventure-Inspired Wellness
While the clinical aspects of IOP are our primary focus, Xplore Recovery offers access to the natural beauty of the Ocoee River and a variety of adventure therapy opportunities, including:
- White-water rafting
- Rock climbing and zip-lining
- Lacota sweat lodges and mindfulness in nature
Though adventure therapy is not part of insurance-billed services, these experiences serve as powerful metaphors for the recovery process—helping clients rebuild self-esteem, face fears, and connect with something greater than themselves. All activities are facilitated by a Certified Adventure Guide and Course Manager who ensures safety and accessibility for all clients who wish to participate.
Flexible Scheduling and Step-Down Care
Family Involvement
At Xplore Recovery, we help individuals find their compass & chart a new course toward healing, fulfillment, and freedom from addiction.
evidence-based Care
How Xplore Recovery Can Help You or Your Loved One
At Xplore Recovery, we believe that every person has the potential to create a life of purpose, connection, and freedom from addiction. Our IOP is grounded in evidence-based clinical care, compassion, and the understanding that recovery is more than abstinence—it’s about transformation.
Individualized Treatment Plans
We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all approaches. Each client receives a treatment plan tailored to their specific history, needs, and goals. Whether you are battling opioid addiction, alcohol use disorder, stimulant dependency, or co-occurring mental health concerns, we create a plan that works for you.
Dual Diagnosis Expertise
Our experienced team understands the complex relationship between mental health and addiction. By treating both simultaneously, we help individuals break the cycle of self-medication and emotional instability and lead a life of lasting recovery and mental wellness.
Access to Nature & Wellness Activities
Healing doesn’t happen solely in a therapy room. Our unique location on the Ocoee River allows clients to reconnect with nature, engage in physical activity, and experience adventure as part of their wellness journey. While these experiences are optional and not covered by insurance, many find them to be profoundly healing.
Small, Supportive Community
With 16 beds for men and 12 beds for women in our higher levels of care, Xplore Recovery maintains an intimate and supportive community. Our IOP continues this ethos by fostering peer support and connection in smaller group settings where every voice is heard and every person matters.
Accessible & Convenient Location
Emphasis on Long-Term Success
We know that recovery doesn’t end when treatment does. From the first day of IOP, we begin preparing clients for life after formal care. We assist with creating relapse prevention plans, finding sober housing if needed, and connecting clients with ongoing support services and alumni groups.
